YACHT

SHIT ROBOT
In the fine DFA lineage of ?Losing My Edge? and ?Casual Friday,??Simple Things? upholds the tradition of DFA ?talkies,? coupling body-pulverising bangers with brain-tickling diatribes. The new track is no different, as it features the steely-eyed rant of Washington D.C. based iconoclast Ian Svenonius, who has been the voice of such bands as Nation of Ulysses, The Make Up, and Chain and the Gang. Spleening and screeching throughout about robots, singing machines, and the loss of innocence, Svenonius gets matched every step of the way by Lambkin, who shadows that singular voice with an elegant yet gritty array of synthetic genius. When it came to the task of remixing such a totemic track, Lambkin enlisted two very different men, Serge Santiago and Todd Terje, for the task. For the UK pressing, Santiago --a British based record producer whose talent can most recently be heard on the newest Goldfrapp single-- strips everything down to the acid bassline and a telltale drum tock, pressurizing every component to the point of meltdown, before dropping in a classic piano line to stabilize everything. With a steady heart-throbbing bass line and an array of startling acidic sounds that build up the dance floor brick by brick, Shit Robot?s ?Simple Life? offers us a glimpse of a futuristic new world, one built not merely by robots, but by Shit Robot.

STILL GOING
Anyone not aware of Still Going must have been livingunder a rock for the last two years... Their debut " Still Going Theme" was pretty much ubiquitous! This is their incredible follow up "Spaghetti Circus / Untitled Love", which has been nearly 2 years in the making. Definitely worth the wait though! Featuring performances by Reggie Watts on vocals, Andrew Rapposo on bass (formerly of Hercules and Love Affair), Tim Lee (Tummy Touch) on additional keys on "Untitled Love", Jason Rabe on additional guitars for "Spaghetti Circus", this is definitely another anthem in the making and sure to be one of the tracks of the year.

BLACK METEORIC STAR
Black Meteoric Star, the latest project by longtime DFA alumni Gavin Russom, is inspired by equal parts Euro-disco, wonky early electronic body music from America?s Midwest, and a fascination with the outer reaches of global psychedelic rock. DFA is releasing three vinyl 12-inch singles with extended original versions, plus a full-length CD that edits and compiles all six tracks. These six pieces of music together comprise a narrative of clubbing and the long journey through the night and into the next day. On each track, Russom creates rich sonic landscapes using minimal but intense arrangements and high-energy repetition. CD compiles edited versions of the six single tracks.

DJ KAOS
DJ KAOS has been producing twisted disco tunes for a number of years and has been an integral part of the Berlin underground scene.
His full-length Lp 'Hello Stranger' was released 2005 and featured the vocal talents of Erlend Oye, Matt Safer, Cpt Comatose among others. Last year's single "Cerebral Tremolo" was released by NYC's
Rong, but was also picked up by Parisian tastemakers, Kitsune, and his newest single "Panopeeps" features a killer remix by *bleep* Robot. His turn at remixing has proved fruitful as well, including work for Tom Vek, Chk Chk Chk, Roxy Music, and New Young Pony Club.
He has also been part of the Faith Recordings 'Collectors Series' mix CDs, with "Danse, Gravite Zero" which he co-produced with Sal Principiato, of the legendary Liquid Liquid. Expect nothing short of amazing, with a range from acid techno to true-blue disco.
Having previously released on Kitsune, Eskimo and Playhouse ect, Kaos commitment has landed him a deal with James Murphy's D F A records with an album scheduled for early 2 0 1 0
. In the meantime, his first 12" on the iconic imprint, 'Love the Nite Away', is already receiving rapturous reviews while parked in best seller charts and holding down 'best new song' on pitchfork.com. Set to embark on his second Australian tour, I close by asking him what else we can we expect from Kaos in the future? Good times. Solid, good times.
