The pulse of the Netherlands lands on the House Of Waxx decks tonight. Music runs deep in the veins of Margie, also known as Mijke Hurkx. She feels right at home at Amsterdam’s versatile Rush Hour, where she runs the House of Music fanzine and recently played DJ to RH’s label nights. Spinning tall musical tales on high key at her shows on Red Light Radio, her wisdom and musical flair speak volumes – unapologetic, raw, surprising. In recent years, Margie’s music ride-along has taken her across Europe, from playing at Concrete and Macki Music in Paris, Corsica Studios in London, Strange Sounds From Beyond and Dekmantel Festival in Amsterdam, to gigs from Helsinki to Manchester. You could call Margie one of Amsterdam’s hidden treasures; something tells us that it isn’t going to last long. Kennedy is a DJ who comes from deep within Amsterdam’s underground music scene having spent years in the shade. Pushing wax at Red Light Records, hosting Red Light Radio shows and being part of the Music From Memory team have all equipped him with plenty knowledge and make him the familiar face he is today. Specialised in but not limited to house and disco, Kennedy stays true to the sound of the past while remaining open to the future and always timeless. Preferring extended over transient, his thoughtfully selected DJ sets are as balanced as they are dynamic, and come with little hassle and lots of love.
