Perc Trax is a London label run by Perc, releasing deep tech house to driving techno. Launched in 2004 as a vehicle for Perc’s own productions, it has evolved into a must check imprint for those with an interest in rough-edged electronic music from techno to house & electro to more experimental industrial & noise works. The label has won Resident Advisor’s renowned label of the month title & was profiled in the Guardian, a rare achievement for a label with such an uncompromising sound. The label’s releases are respected for both their experimental edge & their dancefloor power, leading to Perc Trax showcases – such as tonight! Head Front Panel is a faster-paced techno alias of John Heckle currently focusing on improvised fully-hardware based live sets. The project began as a run of ten anonymously produced techno white labels released in 2014 as a sub label of Tabernacle Records, focusing on techno at its most immediate and energetic, whilst keeping preconceptions of persona under wraps. A request for Head Front Panel to perform in our home the same year later forced Heckle out of the shadows to recreate that same aesthetic in a live format. Though the project is no longer faceless, it still focuses on producing techno at its most primal; raw, fast-paced & spontaneous. Whilst the sets have evolved through many different set-ups and directions (sometimes show-to-show), the ethos stays the same. Few have a recent back catalogue as rich and diverse as returning DJ Randomer. His discography reads like a who’s who of modern techno: across a six year career, he’s produced four EPs for Untold’s Hemlock Recordings; released records for Hessle Audio, Numbers, Perc Trax and Clone; and most recently, been cherry-picked for Ron Morelli’s L.I.E.S. As a DJ, Randomer is one of the UK’s finest, capable of effortlessly stitching together modern bass with classic techno and less esoteric 4/4 rhythms. Frequent guest and now Berlin-based Derek Plaslaiko quietly paid his dues on Detroit’s rave circuit from his nearby hometown, and quickly earned a reputation for forward thinking DJ sets that were clinical, sophisticated and extremely sensual. This combination resulted in a residency for Family, the weekly party at Detroit’s legendary Motor. Some will know Derek Plaslaiko as a favorite of the mid-90s Detroit warehouse scene, which lead to a personal invite from Carl Craig to appear at the inaugural Detroit Electronic Music Festival in 2000. His near decade-long residency at New York’s Bunker parties garnered him “Best Techno Party DJ” by the Village Voice in 2006. In Globus, Fred Peterkin is maverick artist Fred P from the U.S, a New York native to be exact, and he has been releasing some of the gentlest, soul-infiltrated, four-to-the-floor house creations you can get for the last 20 years. With a rich biography/discography too long to list, most of the EPs and albums that he produced as Fred P or Black Jazz Consortium have been released via his very own label Soul People Music, which exists since ten years. Fred P has also dropped 12”s on Jus-Ed’s underground Quality imprint as well as on Toshiya Kawasaki’s Mule Music label. Returning guest artist Kenneth Christiansen has been DJing all over Europe the last decade, playing in top clubs in most capitals. Apart from running the labels Echocord and Echocord Colour, and the Pattern Repeat project with Resoe, he is also booker/co-owner/manager of the club Culture Box in Copenhagen. Andrew James Gustav‘s sets showcase a devotion to the craft of DJing that’s paralleled by few of his contemporaries.Initially under the spell of US house and German minimal, and always influenced by a long-lasting love for UK garage, Andrew’s sound has developed a tougher edge, encompassing vintage tech house, breakbeat, electro and quality techno from all eras and geographies. As well as touring internationally, Andrew is resident DJ at London-based Art of Dark and co-runs its record label offshoot with party founder Colin Chiddle. For the last 12 years, Berlin-born Janina developed an impressive sharp ear, technical skills, an asserted signature, despite continuously evolving music tastes. Playing regularly in the best clubs in Berlin and in European capitals, Janina is now playing twice a month as a resident of Monasterio Club in Moscow, as well as a regular guest in Tresor Club.
