Tipped as being one of Rotterdam’s best kept secrets in Techno, DJ/producer Stranger moves in mysterious ways and has quickly proven to be one to watch. His first musical appearance in 2014 was quickly picked up by established names as Dave Clarke, Sven Vath and Marcel Dettmann, giving his career as well as his own Self Reflektion label a major kick-start. While remaining in the background pushing forward talented artists and working on various projects such as the highly anticipated Paling Trax label, Stranger’s DJ career is on the rise. Bosnian-built and bred Sev Dah may be a Swedish expat, but the Balkan blackness clings strongly to the bleak percussions and rigidly uneasy synthetics that unwillingly fuse into his strongly individual take on techno. Signed to respected labels such as Random Island, Mote-Evolver, Komisch and Frozen Border sublabel Naked Index he quickly gnawed his way into the scene’s core of DJs and producers. Sev Dah is a versatile but headstrong DJ that can gently ease a thumb in at midnight or fervently thrust it down the hatch at peak time. Stef Mendesidis is a prolific producer, he recently released is a track in a compilation on Ben Sims’ Symbolism Label, and the Cyborg EP on PROJEKTS – 005. Our excellent resident Marcus hits the techno mark on the head with a formidable support set. In Globus: one year ago legendary electronic artist Thomas Fehlmann helped celebrate Tresor Records 26th anniversary and this year’s 27th anniversary month he returns. The roots of almost Thomas Fehlmann’s almost 30-year-long career lie in his work with German avant garde band ‘Palais Schaumburg’ he co-founded with partner Holger Hiller. In the late-eighties he produced as Ready Made, and in the nineties he worked together with Basic Channel’s Moritz Von Oswald and Juan Atkins as 3MB as well as started a partnership with Alex Paterson and The Orb. To various extents he has collaborated on all Orb albums. Fehlmann produces a weekly radio show, OceanClubRadio, with Gudrun Gut and has been responsible for countless remixes and productions for a eclectic selection of artists ranging from Erasure to Einstuerzende Neubauten. In the 90s he was a resident in our home for historic club nights. Together with Moritz von Oswald and Juan Atkins he formed 3MB, helping to cement the Berlin-Detroit connection. Since 1995 Fehlmann has been involved with the legendary Berlin-based Ocean Club, which has been broadcasting a radio show since 1998 – now worldwide. Tonight Thomas will be presenting tracks from his 7th full-length album “Los Lagos”, released on Kompakt last September. Returning artist Resom is a vinyl DJ moving between releases in electronic music and her musical socialisation. If the dancefloor is a ship, Resom is your captain and she will deliver the beat to you in a spectrum of styles that make her sets truly unique: spinning everything from obscure left field house to fathomless bass; trippy electro to fierce techno; uplifting ’90s jams to relentless cutting edge dance floor onslaughts. Resom has been actively engaged in the social and cultural side of the music scene since her days in Leipzig with the Homo Elektrik collective as well as others. You can also hear her every two months on her show OPTION on Berlin Community Radio. We also provide you with two Tresor residents: the simple, raw, stripped down and hypnotic sounds of Tresor Records artist Jose Cabrera aka J.C.; and Handmade, for his deep and dubby-grounded á la Detroit, with the jacking stabs of Chicago influences and occasional deviations into tougher or soulful soundscapes.
