Beschreibung zur Veranstaltung:
Operating out of Berlin, Germany, Amila is a French DJ and selector, whose work at the head of labels Altered Soul Experiment and IDO (International Dance Organization), founded alongside Valentino Mora, has catapulted to the forefront of the Berlin underground scene. Amila indulges himself in bending and spinning before full crowds of absorbed ears, oozing nothing but compelling elixirs of funk, house, soul, hip-hop and jazz, tinged with a sixth sense for shaping truly immersive atmospheres and fascinating sound reliefs. Touching many genres with a blatant and infectious inclination for soul, disco, jazz and boogie, he offers an intimate look at the collection of acclaimed DJs and selectors. You only have to see Mike Gushansky play live to know you’ve made a special connection. He’s an improviser and storyteller, light and sure on his fingers, fluently guiding the long set. He feeds off the thrilling variables of a live performance—the mood of the room, the nuances of vinyl, all those things within and beyond control that can make a night memorable. He cares more about the groove than the genre, probing that golden spot between techno, house, disco and funk until he’s brought the party home. Gushansky’s broad reach reflects his long and varied musical upbringing. Trained as a classical pianist, he bought his first pair of Technics at the age of 17. Various unpredictable situations, whether the wilderness or an illegal space, were a perfect training ground to make him the versatile, hands-on DJ he is today. Now a decade into the game, Gushansky is a co-creator of the Redline series in his hometown of Los Angeles, as well as a resident of San Francisco’s wildly popular As You Like It parties since 2013. In addition to playing up and down the West Coast of the United States, he’s appeared at Hot Mass in Pittsburgh, Smartbar in Chicago, SAFE in Miami, U Street Music Hall in Washington DC, Wherehouse in Tijuana, and Sessions in Mexicali, alongside the likes of Marcellus Pittman, Mike Servito, Antal, Hunee, Carlos Souffront, Move D, Prosumer, Peggy Gou and The Black Madonna. Taking his name from the Zulu language, Daniel Schey, aka Mculo is at the forefront of the intertwining dance and electronic music scene. Raised in London and now residing in Berlin, he links continent with continent, creating distinctive rhythms and melodies which take elements from traditional African sounds and mould them with a forward-thinking techno sensibility. An ever learning student of the craft, Mculo spends hours in basements, garages and record stores, filling his bag with music that inspires movement, ecstasy and heads down exultation. From obscure disco, boogie and highlife, to UK garage, house, techno and beyond, a wide arching journey of sounds and feelings is essential to his approach to making people dance, laugh and smile alongside him.
