Beschreibung zur Veranstaltung:
Sandwell District was, in part, responsible for launching Rrose’s work into the techno community back in 2011, as through a friendship with Juan Mendez aka Silent Servant, Rrose’s first release under his Marcel Duchamp indebted moniker was hooked up. Nowadays you can mainly find his releases on his own Eaux imprint. Various artistic collaborations and excellent releases on Eaux (including 2017’s “The Ends Of The Weather”) reveal a techno artist with an intelligent goal with an underground spirit, whether playing live or commanding the turntables. René Pawlowitz is Shed, one of techno’s most respected DJs/producers, who re-released his first two Shed albums, 2008’s Shedding The Past and 2010’s The Traveller, on vinyl last November, this time on his own The Final Experiment label, which was also the name of his last album released on Modeselektor’s Monkeytown. With a definite inspiration from the early 90s rave sound, his sets have thrilled clubbers on his many international tours. Olaf Bender is Byetone, who co-founded Raster-Noton together with Frank Bretschneider (Komet) and Carsten Nicolai (Noto), a long-lasting label and platform for their artistic visions. 20+ years down the road Bender as Byetone expresses his vision with a live set tonight for Grounded Theory #39. Rebecca von Kalinowsky, on Cologne’s Rote Liebe, plays a deep driven electronic music set. In 2007 she contributed a track for International Deejay Gigolos “CD Ten”, as well as performing in the 2010 Platzhirsch Schalplatten party in Cologne alongside the many artists playing with Jeff Mills at the event. In the +4Bar: Grounded Theory artist and co-founder, DJ, producer, promoter and owner of his own Manhigh imprint and cutting-edge releases on K209, Henning Baer returns to the Tresor decks. A DJ of worldwide renown for ability and tastes, Henning Baer forged his enviable résumé with his own hands. Following on years of closely-synchronized work with fellow resident Milton Bradley, Henning Baer asserted greater independence with innovative production styles on an EP for Taanstaafl Planets. Ciarra Black is a producer and DJ based in Brooklyn, New York. Her live hardware sets are one-of-a-kind improvised soundscapes – rhythmic and noisy, visceral and heady, channeling her influences past, present, and future into a sound that is truly her own. Ciarra Black has performed live at countless venues, highlights of which are MoMA PS1, The Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Smart Bar Chicago, Output, and several Brooklyn warehouse spaces. 2017 saw her first appearance on 12” vinyl, touring the U.S. and abroad, and an expertly curated slate of releases on her label No-Tech.
