To say that LEVON VINCENT has had a good year would be a huge understatement. 2009 has seen him capturing both the House & Techno community with his rugged house structures and classic dub tones and properly pumping rhythms. In other words: music to make you move. Based in New York, Levon Vincent is enmeshed in the much-discussed revitalization of the local house scene. He is part of Jus Ed?s UNDERGROUND QUALITY crew and he runs the Novel Sound label + Deconstruct Music, which he manages with longtime friend Anthony Parasole.
Though he gets so much attention recently, he's everything but a newcomer: In the early 90ies he started playing for New York house clubs like LIMELITE and SHELTER, and this period certainly shaped his style. While the NY clubscene experienced a tough breakdown in the late 90ies thank to Giuliani, Levon used this time to focus on his own productions. He developed skills and knowledge over years and his recent fame can be seen as the welcome payoff to someone who has spent his fair share of time in the trenches.
We?re happy that he comes all the way from New York to play for us at DEAR, and he?ll have great support by someone worth to discover:
IRON CURTIS, a Berlin based young producer, who got much recognition for his first few strikes on MIRAU, MORRIS AUDIO and most recently MULE. Intertwining Raw House with soulful Techno in a disturbingly enchanting manner, his sound unfolds a dark universe with flashes of brightness. If you listen to his productions you might agree with XLR8R Magazine who feature him in their rubric ?Artist to watch? in their upcoming May issue.
