Dutch Lowlands 2010 Festival Sold Out in Record Time Thanks to Social Media Sites
Lowlands 2010 is now officially sold out... after presales started February 22 - and now, only eight days later, all 55.000 tickets have been sold. The Ticket sales for one of the biggest Dutch festivals were accelerated due to clever marketing and viral hypes on social networking site Twitter.
Within days after the start of the presales, organisers, as well as some dutch DJ?s announced on Twitter that the ticket sales were going extremely fast.
Other people retweeted the frantic messages and starting buying their tickets like crazy! By February 28 the festival seemed to be sold out, at least that?s what social media rumour mill was saying.
But no such thing happened. The message was caused by an error in the Ticketing system, so later that evening another 10,000 tickets were suddenly available. People started panicking all over again and all the tickets left were sold out within the one extra day.
Last year all the tickets were sold out in May and due to Twitter, the record was smashed big time. So far ?Admiral Freebee?, ?Blood Red Shoes?, ?La Pegatina?, ?Plastikman?, ?Dan Le Sac vs. Scroobius Pip?, and last but not least ?Blink 182? are slated to perform at the Lowlands 2010 edition. Sold out Lowlands 2010 tickets can be found at European Secondary Ticket Marketplaces such as Viagogo, Seatwave and Worldticketshop.
